Originally release in 1961, this great Tales of the Wizard of Oz cartoon episode is now available on YouTube. We are lucky be have a rich environment that we can play these videos.

It is hard to imagine that MGM would lose the original score to a timeless classic like the Wizard of Oz, but that is exactly what they did. Lost. Gone. Misplaced. Maybe picked up by a twister and sent back to Oz from whence it came. Either way, it was hard for anybody to play the beautiful music of Harold Arlem from the original Wizard of Oz movie.

Luckily, the world is full of passionate and patient people. John Wilson, a conductor, composer and arranger along with his friend Andrew Cottee made it their mission to restore not only Harold Arlem’s original music but many other lost treasures. Warner Brothers (now owners of MGM) have helped out the pair by granting them access to the source material.

With all of the hard work done, now is the time to play. Five shows of the Wizard of Oz will be held in Dublin with the record soundtrack removed and a live orchestra will revive Harold Arlem’s music from it’s dark lost corner to the bright day light of the audiences yet again.

Those performances sound like a perfect treat for any Wizard of Oz fan.

A new mini-series from the SciFi Channel which is taking a twist on L Frank Baum’s the Wonderful Wizard of Oz is starting tonight. The premise looks to be very interesting and the new view on our beloved Wizard of Oz characters looks to be fun. Switching Oz to the Outer Zone was pretty smart too. But, it has a lot to live up to. Will it enspire generations to come?

To bad I don’t get the SciFi channel
